How do I extract audio from a video?

Which video formats are supported?

MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM, WMV, M4V, FLV, 3GP, MPEG-TS, and MPEG-PS. If a video has an audio track, it can almost certainly be extracted here.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The converter is FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly and runs entirely in your browser tab. This matters for confidential recordings — client calls, internal meetings, unreleased footage — which never leave your machine.

How do I extract audio from a video on iPhone?

Copy the video to a computer and use this page, since iOS browsers are memory-limited for large files. Videos filmed on an iPhone are .mov files and convert normally once transferred.

Can I extract audio without losing quality?

Choose WAV or FLAC through the API for a lossless extraction. In the browser the output is MP3, which re-encodes the audio — at 320 kbps the difference is inaudible, but it is not bit-identical to the source.

How is this different from CapCut, Canva, or DaVinci Resolve?

Those are editors: you import the video, detach the audio on a timeline, then export. That works, but it means installing software and rendering a project. This page does the one step you actually wanted, in a few seconds.

Why is there no audio in my extracted file?

The source video has no audio track. Silent screen recordings are the usual cause — screen capture tools often do not record system audio unless you explicitly enable it.

Is there a file size limit?

No upload limit, because nothing is uploaded. Files up to about 1.5GB extract comfortably in a browser tab; beyond that, or for batches, use the API.
